Moderate acute malnutrition affects greater numbers nationwide

Moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) affects greater numbers nationwide where 3.5 million people require treatment for acute malnutrition. Therefore, RDP, in partnership with World Food Programme, registered a total of 462 new MAM cases under the TSFP program in Taizz Gov. During June, RDP served a number of 770 children under 5 disaggregated as (391 boys, 379 girls) and 774 pregnant and lactating women with therapeutic supplements (Plumpy Sup & WSB+) to help reduce child mortality and prevent the moderately malnourished from becoming severely malnourished, by supporting 12 health facilities with TSFP activities in Sama and As Silw districts of Taizz Gov. RDP also improved the basic nutrition knowledge of 818 mothers and other women through awareness-raising campaigns on health and nutrition key messages in targeted districts.
