Food Security

Enough! For the Sake of Children

People living nearby conflict-affected areas have become vulnerable and in acute need of food, medicines, and access to safe drinking water. Many families in Aleawadir sub-district of Shara’b Ar Rawnah district, Taizz governorate have been suffering from the very basic needs of life just because this sub-district is adjacent to the most war-torn area “Hayis” in Al-Hudaydah governorate.

Tragically, Abdulmalik Hamid is one of those vulnerable people who lives under the poverty line with his wife and eight children in Aleawadir sub-district. He has seven daughters and a son. These innocent children have no idea what the war crisis is about, nor do they have a clue on how the family is going through a difficult time. All they know for sure is to enjoy their childhood to the max.

Painfully, the father “Abdulmalik”, who is in his fifties, has been diagnosed with a Lipoma tumor in his feet. He has been greatly suffering at home and not able to work ever since. Lipoma is a benign and could be a malignant tumor caused by excessive growth of fat cells. This type of tumor is common between the ages of 40 and 60 years, but it can also be found in children. They are usually smaller than one centimeter but may reach 6 centimeters. Most of them are present in the subcutaneous fatty layer “beneath the skin”.

This tragedy is just an example of so many affected families in Shara’b Ar Rawnah district of Taizz governorate. As a result, a quick emergency response was taken for the whole affected community targeting the most affected and vulnerable households and provided them with sufficient access to food baskets for three months.
