Spread Awareness Among Rural Reaches

Living in remote areas that have neither basic services nor educational institutions is by far the most devastating life a human being could ever experience. As a simple case in point, how on earth do illiterate people become well aware of the importance of family planning & children vaccination?

Fara Al-Udain is an area where you can find underprivileged disadvantaged people lacking the basic resources such as ” standard housing, medical and educational facilities,” which believed to be necessary for all and sundry. People of all ages with both genders are in acute need for primary healthcare services.

Therefore, community health volunteers play a significant role in providing door to door healthcare services to their own community members. Moreover, they launch several campaigns in order to raise awareness among the society, especially for those people who live in outer reaches of the countryside where the majority of illiterate citizens are found. Most importantly, community health volunteers devote their whole time in helping others and convincing them on how necessary it is to have their children vaccinated.  They also try to sensitize citizens on the importance of family planning and natural breastfeeding.

Within the period of Nov 18th to Nov 19th, 2017, RDP had implemented “The Refresher Training for Community Health Volunteers,” in partnership with YDN for NGOs, coordination with ministry of public health and population and government as well as district health offices. It was funded by the Humanitarian Pool Fund of the United Nations Office for coordination of humanitarian affairs. The training was held in Al-Mazahen Hospital, which is situated in Fara Al-Udayn district, Ibb governorate. 17 CHVs were targeted to attend the training in order to improve their voluntary services throughout diverse methods of training as the following “group discussion, group work, role plays, videos and lectures.”

Ultimately, a speech was addressed to CHVs clarifying their expected duties and demonstrating the mechanism of field work as the main part of the whole project. Above all, they became aware of the main goal of such projects which is the alleviation of people’s suffering throughout the increasing level of health care provision in most affected areas.
