Substantial Humanitarian Aid to Avert Famine in Taizz

Tragically, the number of people who are on the brink of famine in Yemen continues to rise to such a threatening rate, putting the whole country at risk. Suffice it to say that 8.4 million people are severely food insecure and wholly dependent on food assistance to survive plus more than 22 million people are in need of urgent humanitarian support.

Despite the generosity of Yemeni donors and their significant contributions, the country still requires a huge food aid to avert famine specifically in rural reaches where almost all basic needs are not available and can’t be obtained.

Considering the dire situation in Yemen, a huge support from Sign of Hope e.V comes at a crucial time for most in need people facing unimaginable suffering. RDP, the implementing partner, therefore has provided vulnerable households in Al-Huriba sub district, As-Siliw district, Taizz governorate, with abundant supply of food rations since the beginning of September until December 31st, 2017.

The project “Food Aid for Families with Young Children” was planned to target families with children under five who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) or moderate acute malnutrition (MAM), and pregnant & lactating women (PLW) admitted in the CMAM program. Successfully, 137 households with total achieved beneficiaries of 959 individuals disaggregated ( 384 men, 399 women, 86 boys, 90 girls ),  have been well provided with enough food baskets for three times as there were three distribution rounds for the same needy people.

We highly appreciate the generous support we continue to receive from Sign of Hope e.V that helps us provide crucial assistance to most in need families who require urgent humanitarian aid to sustain and save their lives from falling even deeper into hunger. Obviously, RDP as well has done everything in its power to ensure the improvement and satisfaction of the whole community, and it is very determined to continue its best efforts to alleviate people’s suffering.
