AISHA AND THE BACKPACK OF HOPE!

A DREAM IN A REMOTE VILLAGE
In a remote village in Kushar District, a young girl named Aisha woke up every morning with a simple dream: to learn in a school that matched her ambitions. However, her school, “Aisha School,” faced harsh and unbearable conditions. The walls were cracked and damp, the roofs were dilapidated and leaked during the rainy season, and the desks were barely usable due to age and wear.

Despite these challenges, Aisha, a bright and determined child, never lost her passion for learning. She often declared with enthusiasm, “I wil become a doctor to help my village.” This simple dream was her driving force, helping her and her two sisters endure the difficult circumstances
surrounding them.

THE DAWN OF HOPE

Hope began to take shape when the Relief & Development Peer Foundation (RDP) and the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) intervened. A project was launched to rehabilitate four schools in rural areas of Hajjah Governorate. This included two schools in Kushar District: Aisha School and Yahya Ayyash School, as wel as two schools in Washhah District: Al-Amaaliqah School and The New Generation School.

Work started to restore these schools, which were in dire conditions, and transform them into safe and healthy learning environments. The roofs were rebuilt with weather-resistant materials, the cracked walls were repaired and painted with vibrant colors that brought life to the classrooms, and broken windows were replaced with new ones. Modern desks and chairs were introduced, providing students with proper spaces to study and learn.

DREAMS TURN INTO REALITY

As part of the project, 2,279 school bags were distributed to students from poor families across the two districts, equipping them with essential tools to continue their education.

For Aisha, the day she walked into her newly renovated school and received her brand-new school bag marked a turning point. With her small backpack on her shoulders and her two sisters by her side, she said proudly, “Now I can write my lessons with ease, and one day, I wil become a doctor.”

Today, “Aisha School” is no longer a crumbling building but a vibrant educational hub full of life. Aisha, her sisters, and their peers now study in organized classrooms, filled with hope and ambition. Aisha’s story, along with those of her classmates, is not just about rebuilding schools but about igniting a beacon of hope for an entire generation. It is a story of rebuilding the future through the power of education.
