Integrated response project in Food Security and Livelihoods and Education for the most vulnerable host communities and IDPs in Kushar and Washhah districts of Hajjah Governate, Pillar 1

Objective:

Food Security

Improve living standards and enhance resilience of vulnerable people of all ages and gender groups including school aged girls and boys in Kushar and Washhah districts of Hajjah Gov by providing conditional food assistance, livelihoods, and education services.

 

Education

Enhance the resilience of 2279 aged students including IDPs & host community, through increasing safe access and sustainable learning opportunities at schools, in addition to protect and promote livelihoods and build assets to enhance resilience of 850 HHs (800 CfW -50 Micro-Business Grants) of the most vulnerable households.

Major project activities:

Education

  1. Conducted kick-off meeting for the project team.
  2. Conducted stakeholder’s introductory workshop.
  3. Coordinated with all relevant stakeholders, including YEC, MoE, and SCMCHA, local authorities, GEO, DEO, and community leaders.
  4. Conducted a technical needs assessment for schools.
  5. Establish the complaint and feedback mechanism (CFM).
  6. 6 Completed the rehabilitation of four schools in Washhah and Kusher districts, creating improved learning environments for students.
  7. Distributed of Learning Materials (Student’s Kits) for 2279 student.
  8. Completed PDM Survey after distribution of Students kits.
  9. Completed PCM Survey after rehabilitation of schools.

 

Food Security and Livelihoods

  1. Conducted a feasibility study for community assets.
  2. Completed registration and verification of 800 HHs, obtained approval on the list from SCMCHA.
  3. Contracted with FSP (Al Amal bank).
  4. Supplied CFW materials to targeted locations.
  5. Conducted Baseline survey.
  6. Completed two cycles of CFW activity.
  7. Distributed Conditional cash assistance for 2 cycles.
  8. Rehabilitation/Construction of 6 Community assets in two districts.
  9. Leveling of more than 47,162 square meter of the community road assets.
  10. Pavement of 7,562 square meter for roads.
  11. Construction 99 cubic meter of gabions to protect community agriculture lands and IDPs shelters from torrents.
  12. Conducted PCM survey after rehabilitation of community assets.
