Hope Begins! Launching the Foundations of Transitional Shelters in Abs District, Hajjah Governorate

With steady steps toward providing a more dignified life for displaced families, the Relief and Development Peer Foundation (RDP) team, with funding from the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF), today inaugurated the construction of transitional shelters as part of the “Life-Saving Response to Enhance the Resilience of Displaced Communities” project in Abs District, Hajjah Governorate.

About the Project:
The project aims to support 250 displaced families (1,750 individuals) who have endured prolonged displacement and are living in fragile, unsafe shelters. It will provide transitional shelters in the sub-districts of Bani Thawab and Qutbah (Abs District), carefully constructed using cement blocks for greater durability and resistance to floods and harsh weather conditions.

Why is this project important?
• Ensures privacy and dignity, especially for women, children, and people with disabilities.
• Includes solar lighting, lockable doors and windows, and accessibility ramps.
• Supports 35 families with disabilities to ensure an inclusive response.

During the inauguration, we were honored by a field visit from the UN OCHA team in Hajjah and the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) to the project site in Abs District, Hajjah Governorate.

At RDP, we are committed to ensuring a dignified and safe humanitarian response that meets the needs of all and strengthens the resilience of displaced families in the face of challenges.
