Life-saving WASH Emergency Response Project to the Most Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities in Kua’ydinah District of Hajjah Governorate
Objective:
Improved and sustained access to adequate safe water, sanitation facilities, and best hygiene practices of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the most vulnerable population in conflict-affected communities in Kua’ydinah district of Hajjah governorate. Major project activities:
– Conduct community engagement meeting
– Conducted Feasibility study.
– Conducted stakeholders’ workshop for local authorities.
– Conducted induction workshop for the project team.
– Conducted Baseline survey.
– Announced two tenders for rehabilitation of water scheme/source and install solar pumping system.
– Established CFM.
– Rehabilitating one water scheme, and one water source based on the technical feasibility study.
– Installing pumping and distribution pipelines with a total length of 9.34 Km and installing 36 water distribution boxes with water meters. Also, rehabilitation of a pumping room.
– Rehabilitation of concrete water tank with a total volume of 60 cubic meters, implementation of gabion protection wall for the well to protect it from flood risks.
– Supply and install solar pumping system with a total power of 21.24 KW.
– Supply maintenance tools kit to facilitate the project maintenance, operation and pipeline extension to new areas to ensure the sustainability of the water scheme.
– Conducted regular field visits throughout the implementation of project activities.
– Conducted training workshop for 20 community volunteers CVs (15 Men, 5 Women) about community mobilization, delivery of messages on hygiene awareness, and improved hygiene practices to the affected targeted households and water treatment methods at HHs level.
– The community volunteers have conducted 184 awareness sessions in Kua’ydinah district in Hajjah governorate reaching 2,775 individuals through hygiene promotion and community participation activities.
